How it works
Esomeprazole works by blocking the enzyme in the wall of the stomach that produces acid. By blocking the enzyme, the production of acid is decreased, and this allows the stomach and esophagus to heal.
How to use

  • For GERD, to be taken once daily orally for 4-8 weeks
  • For the treatment of H. pylori infection, to be taken once daily orally in combination with amoxicillin and clarithromycin for 10 days
  • For preventing NSAID-induced ulcers, daily dose to be taken orally for 6 months
  • For treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome to be taken 40 mg twice daily

Side effects
Most commonly reported side effects include abdominal pain with cramps, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, dyspepsia, flatulence.
